Fall!!! My fall witches, it is our time to gather and get cozy. The Autumnal Equinox is coming up September 22, 2025 and I am getting ready. I have already had my first vanilla chai of this season, and it was delicious. Hand over the apples, the Earl Gey tea, and my fall throw. Do you also have a favorite fall throw?
Right now set an alarm on your phone for 11am on September 17, 2025, so that the equinox does not completely sneak up on you. Have you done everything you want to do? Anything to buy this weekend? I have trouble keeping up with the moon phases, much less the seasonal sabbats. I try (and mostly fail) to reset the house on the first day of each month by sweeping with intention and cleansing with cinnamon – I bat about 150. So I made this list for myself as much as to help you.
Three days before the fall equinox, you can prepare by:
-cleaning and decluttering your home; you could do a smoke cleanse.
I learned this week you can cleanse by burning ginger root! I might try that in addition to sage. Then I will get a lemon slices, mint leaves and salt boil going to freshen up the house. I have a food donation box in the floor of my kitchen and I will be topping that up before donating.
-updating or decorating your altar with seasonal items – examples are using autumn leaves or colored candles, apples, seeds, gourds, nuts
I have found a bowl full of gorgeous red and red-orange leaves so far. I smile at them as I walk by that table. I have a cookie candle ready to start that week.
-gathering apples, pumpkins and root vegetables for a harvest feast with loved ones or by yourself
I am going to make baked chicken with rosemary and thyme sprinkles, mashed potatoes and apple cobbler for dinner. Rosemary and thyme because anytime I sprinkle something besides just salt on a dish I feel kitchen witchy. Apple cobbler because apples are my favorite!
-reflecting on your past year’s accomplishments. Gather around a bonfire or under a pile of blankets on the porch to share stories and reflect on the year with friends and family.
I have begun jotting down gratitude notes and plan to burn them on the equinox, then burn my yearly intention or wishes notes. (See below)
-setting intentions for the coming season.
I need to not voice my annoyances with others, and work on strengthening existing friendships.
Additionally, you can go for a walk in nature to observe the changing scenery and connect with the grounding energy of fall.
I will be “connecting to fall” by sitting on the porch doing very, very little in the evening, and attending outdoor sport activities to support my nieces and nephews.
