This past weekend was wonderful for one delightful reason – Snow!! I love it. I enjoy watching it fall. I love the quiet hush of the world when it is blanketed. I especially enjoy drinking cups of tea in my at-home uniform of joggers, sweatshirt and thick socks. Winter feels like a gentle reset. It was glorious!

Winter is my season. I am infinitely happier being cold than hot. I enjoy layering clothes and blankets.  I am content reading or crafting while listening to a crackling fire. I like the aroma of chili in the crockpot and sleeping under the weight of three quilts because it reminds me of childhood. I enjoy bundling up and breathing in the crisp air during walks. I feel indulgent drinking hot cocoa in the afternoon.  I am blessed to have married a like minded man! I believe that darling hubby and I could pack up and move to Norway next week and be fine.

Having said all that, I am aware that I am comfortable with snow and winter as a result of having a stocked pantry and multiple sources of warmth.  I am aware others are not as fortunate as we are currently.  We struggled; I call those our peanut butter days because I took a peanut butter sandwich and a baggie of chips for lunch everyday.  These days, I donate cash to our local food pantry, I knit and crochet hats for a homeless shelter, and I buy double amounts of food essentials to stock our community little free pantries.

Be kind. Be 10% more generous. Be safe.
